About

Born in Akron, Ohio, as the third of four siblings, books had a special power to me. As a family we did not collect books, but the local library was a strange and compelling refuge. Throughout living, working, and teaching in Chicago, New York, and London the thread binding my work as a designer, illustrator, and educator has always been books. Now settled in Portland, Oregon, I’m inspired by the city’s value of the written word and its nearby wilderness.
